Our downtown Athens building, located at 244 E. Washington Street, showcases both a sense of history and cutting-edge innovations. The back section of the building was built over 100 years ago as a Sunday school for the First Baptist Church which was located at the corner of Washington Street and College Avenue until it burned. The building underwent multiple additions and renovations over the years, which had resulted in a mish-mash of styles.
The entire building was gutted and entirely renovated, adding an additional 1400 square feet of office space. Old pine ceiling joists were taken down and now serve as wood flooring in the front section of the office.
Jim Warnes, partner in the firm, has been practicing law in the building since 1982.
With exposed brick walls, wide plank wood flooring, and modernized amenities, the building showcases an aesthetically pleasing complement of old and new. TW&A is proud to fuse the historic with the cutting-edge.
The building’s renovations were featured in an article.
