Born and raised in Athens, Mike has a unique affinity for this community. He attended local schools and did his undergraduate work at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He completed law school at Mercer University in Macon before returning to Athens to practice law and serve his fellow Athenians.
Mike joined Timmons, Warnes & Anderson as a law clerk in the area of real estate prior to passing the bar exam. Mike primarily focuses his practice in real estate and estate planning. His understanding in helping others with these areas of the law came from his experience in buying his first home and negotiating the complexities of a loved one's estate.
Mike is a member of the Real Property and Fiduciary law sections of the State Bar of Georgia; the sections of Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law, as well as the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association; the Federalist Society; the Christian Legal Society; the Athens Area Board of Realtors; and the Athens Area Homebuilders Association.
A member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Mike volunteers in the nursery as well as participating in the annual Athens Singing Christmas Tree production.
An avid UGA fan, Mike enjoys watching the "Dawgs" play football. In addition, he enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, golf and traveling. Mike and his wife, Nan, a pediatric nurse, have two young children, Lauren and Jay.
